Three Reasons to back up your ViViPOS

1. You'll sleep better at night
2. You can restore your data in the event of a disaster
3. Archiving & Truncating Transactions will enhance performance

There are 2 types of Backups

To back up information such as:

• Departments
• Products
• Function Panels
• Staff Members
• Customer Database

This back-up is great if you want to export individual pieces of information such as your customer data-base for marketing. You should take a 'Data Export' back up whenever you make changes to your ViViPOS setup. (Note: it does NOT include customer orders or transactional data)

To back up information such as:

• Everything including the kitchen sink
• Actually not really the sink
• It does include the customer orders
• It does include transactional data

This is the backup you would restore to recall data for historic reporting. You would also use this to rebuild your ViViPOS if something happened to your terminal. (like it was damaged, broken or stolen. If you never need the backup at least you'll sleep better.

How to Do it

Data Export

Insert USB Backup stick into any USB port in your terminal and wait until the 'Media Not Found' is replaced with the name of your backup stick. Then you are ready to begin exporting your data.

Select 'Order Destinations (it will turn brown with white text) and press the 'Export' button at the bottom of the screen. When exported successfully you will see 'Yes (destinations.js)' on the top line of the Export column.

Continue the same step for every line, working from top to bottom until you see a 'yes' for each one in the Export column as above. The whole backup should take no more than 5 minutes

Congratulations you have now completed a Data Export for your ViViPOS software. 

Plug your USB memory stick into your computer

Folders on the USB memory stick

You will find the data export files in the folder named database_export. 
The ViViPOS will also create another folder called database_import, which is 
where you would copy the files if you wanted to restore them.

Insert USB and click 'Please select media button

Select the USB memory stick and press OK

Click the 'Backup to Local' button

Backup to local will take about 10 minutes

Select the Local Backup created. It will have a (*) next to the date.Press 'Copy Local to External button

You will see the file name with the date and (*) in the Time column on the right once it is copied to your USB memory stick. Will take about 30 secs

Congratulations you have now completed a full System Backup for your ViViPOS terminal.
